What is Anchor?

A Community motivated to end economic instability due to a lack of insight

Our Mission is this:

“To empower communities by providing comprehensive financial education, fostering economic stability, and inspiring long-term prosperity. Not just a quick fix. We strive to equip individuals with the knowledge and tools necessary for financial success, thereby transforming lives and strengthening communities from the ground up.”
– Your Tribe

What’s our story?

Although our story is still in the beginning stages, there is always a story to tell as to how we got here.

Anchor was created out of a compelling need to bridge the gap in law and financial literacy within underserved communities in Birmingham, AL, Ft Myers, FL, and their rural surrounding areas. We began with a simple, yet powerful idea: to empower individuals by equipping them to change their lives and achieve economic stability. It’s one thing to simply serve and another to create impact through serving.

This movement-making organization, founded by Dewayne Moore, is centered around the ones that will make up its community (the ones being served and the ones doing the serving) our members, our partners, and our volunteers.

After Dewayne served countless individuals on the streets, in the prisons, and within Greater Birmingham’s middle class societies at schools and churches, our founder realized many of the challenges faced by these communities stemmed from a lack of basic financial and civil education and resources. Families struggle to budget, save, and invest, and keep their children out of trouble.

Motivated by a desire to enact real change, we launched Anchor to serve as a guide, mentor, and partner in the journey toward financial empowerment and civil sustainability. Each workshop, course, and event is designed to inspire confidence and foster non-traditional opportunities and mindsets that lead to economic growth.

We started Anchor because we believe financial and civil knowledge is a cornerstone of community strength and individual freedom.
